Is an application designed to provide ongoing support and relapse prevention to people recovering from substance use disorders during and post treatment. It is based upon the Comprehensive Health Enhancement Support System (CHESS). ACHESS is delivered through a smart-phone rather than a personal computer and focuses on helping alcohol dependent patients leaving residential care with information and other resources. The Alcohol–Comprehensive Health Enhancement Support System (A-CHESS) is designed to be compatible with two models of how people can change their behaviors—theself-determination theory (Larimeret al. 1999) and a model developed by Witkiewitz and Marlatt (2004) that describes stages preceding relapse and stage appropriate change methods to prevent relapse.
